Building Families Through Adoption

So many Texas parents have used adoption to bring their children into their lives. Adoption is a wonderful way to become a parent, but the process can be complicated, and a mistake can delay the adoption or even cause it to fail.

I am attorney Cynthia M. Chapa. My San Antonio law office, The Chapa Firm, has guided clients through the adoption process since 2007. No matter what complications are involved in your case, I will work closely with you to bring you together with your new son or daughter.

Contested Vs. Uncontested Adoptions

Often, an adoption is uncontested, meaning the child's biological parents have already lost their parental rights or are willing to sign over those rights to you. But if one or both parents do not willingly give up their parental rights, the matter could become a contested adoption. This is a more complicated form of adoption that involves asking the court to terminate the biological parent's or parents' rights to the child. If this occurs, I will build a compelling case for why it is in the child's best interests to be raised by you.

Your Lawyer For All Adoption Matters

Many adoptions involve nonparental relatives stepping in to take care of a loved one. Often, they have been raising the child for years and are seeking legal parental status to ensure their rights. I represent grandparents, aunts, uncles and other relatives in adoption cases. I can also help you if you are seeking to adopt a nonrelative or going through an international adoption.
